CNN has a follow up on the recent skateboard emissary mission to Cuba. You might recall we posted about a Christmas day session that was also a drop off for new and used equipment to be brought to Cuba. So how did it go? Check out the story and video on CNN.

    Great work of that man.
    UUhhh…..just stop complaining,Mr. Conahan…

  2. Cool. Aren’t most of our boards made in China anyway though? Are they part of the embargo?

    1. Well, China is not part of the US embargo on Cuba. Looks like the real reason is economic. Based on exchange rates and per capita GDP, the cost of a board in Cuba represents nearly 5 times what a board costs us here. Paying around $200 just for a deck would be brutal. Even a cheap blank would be close to US$100 equivalent.

Their economy will probably skyrocket once that embargo is lifted.

This is how I nerd out sometimes.

Almost a……winner! But a bit obvious.
Kilwag should make a ‘Cuba Crisis’ deck.

      1. We made a Detente deck with Kennedy and Castro.

I’ve been real interested in what they do when they don’t have a source of equipment. I bet there are some interesting DIY jobs over there.

I’ll bet it’s chock full of horrible lines like “Pro skating is not counterrevolutionary… we all roll the same way”.
