Burnside Nontest Benefit for expansion

Burnside nontest and fundraiser for expansion of the Burnside project, going on Saturday the 18th. We must be on the official kook list because nobody asked us to donate or promote this event. Oh well. Little known fact: Mark Conahan was the one who secured the noise permit for the event yesterday afternoon. DJ Red and and lots of skating, loud music, general shenanigans. Full flyer after the jump.

  1. Rad. I like nontests way better than contests. Contests are for jocks.

  2. Actually the nontest skating was kind of a dud. The skating was a normal day at burnside.

  3. I was there shortly then went skating myself. Everyone looked like they were having fun. We had more fun at Gars party though.

  4. Bobcat! What, you came to Portland and didn’t call me? You don’t love me, Whaaaaaaaa!

  5. had a good one / time. Burnside on a normal every day yeah maby in 96. Lot of people skating packed deck on the elbow. Best warmest day of the year yet epic weather. Parking lot action space was good ! blocked off. Glad it was a mellow but hype session. Good turnout with alot of heads coming out. Not the glam contest shoboat feel. Yeah S&A among many others that could of been involved that were not on this one including people & sponsors. Little bit better communication could help. Glad it wasn’t a totall skatr media kook fest even though organization & networking on this one could of been better. People want to do shit that’s great, just hopefully at least involve more of the resources & soldiers & key players available at your disposal. No one got super wrecked or sent away in an ambulance off of the New big wall cliff jump so that’s cool. . Non tests don’t normally have cash prizes, although rumors circulating around that were all over the board, money at a benefit should go to the park & any bands should always play for free which all bands did at this one. Any band that wants money to play a benefit is a kook & so is the person that pays them. Anyone with a poorly put together event benefit at a crap venue with people that want to get paid & basically no money gets raised should get out of the benefit business or get it right! Im talking about other benefits not this one, but common sense still applies. F the Kooks

  6. amen Jay. To paraphrase the Orcas Island poster by my computer: “theres no amount of good a person can do if he or she doesn’t take the credit”
