Jay Adams fire sale

Jay Adams is selling a Jay Adams SMA deck on eBay. I don’t know if this is/was a production model or a one off. He gives no details on the deck auction except to say he will personalize an autograph if you want. Just looking at the picture makes me feel intimidated into bidding. Less than five hours left. UPDATE: It’s over.

  1. this could have been SOTW

  2. looks like this is the 4th he’s listed this week. each starts with a $100 opening bid and $300 buy it now which disapears when the $100 bid is placed. the first 3 sold with the buy it now.

my guess is they ran off a few decks for jay to sell off to cover whatever it is thats costing jay $$ these days.

IMO $300 is a lot for a limited edition signed board if its new. now if its a nos old model thats a different story. anyone out there know more about this model?

we’ll see if another gets listed tomorrow 😉

This graphic and “colorway” (as HoN would say) is pretty phoned in. SMA does more interesting stuff with their stock boards.

I think the before and after shots of his face are pretty decent evidence that sticking shit up your nose causes serious septum deviation…….

The nose. I knew someone had to call that out. Stay in school, kids!

Jay, U rock. we skated at skatercross. I hate these comments from these other people. Unless they walk a mile in your shoes they don’t know squat and have no right to judge you. You deserve some peace in your life. Hang in there.

Anyone who talks shit about jay should shut the fuck up unless they personally know him. I agree if u havn’t walked in someones shoes then shut the *&^% up! Keep doing your thing Jay thanks for all the memories ect..

    1. Someone that assaults gay people because of that do not deserve any empathy.

  9. Jay gave the world his childhood in magazines and videos and he IS a pioneer and goddamn it he deserves respect. So he had some problems with drugs, anybody judging Jay should look at their own issues and remember compassion. We all have some demon and Jay is a legend who is trying to do better. I have nothing but love for Dogtown for laying down the tracks that we are all following. Fuck anybody who talks shit about Jay. He’s the authentic skateboarder, the original.

    1. “Jay gave the world his childhood in magazines and videos”

What videos? Skate videos didn’t exist until the 80’s and Jay was no child by then, just ask the guy he assaulted in 1982… oh wait, you can’t, because he’s dead.

I guess Ryan Sheckler has an excuse to go to jail too, since he gave even more of his childhood away in videos and magazines.

Jay Adams – Rad skater. Lousy excuse for human.

JKP, Ur a kook. Jay was never convicted of murder, Before u set yourself up to seem ignorant again, U should research the facts on jay’s conviction. He was the instigator in the fight witch led to the death of the homosexual male. There was a large group of people some of witch sadly dealt the fatal kicks to his cranium, Jay was not one of those suspects. And at least write ur name when u reply, cuzz u seem like a fucking snitch, { But i’m sure ur not right?} Also r.s. has been sellout since day one, He’s an X games robot that only cares about filming his next video game comm. R.S-whack skater. Bigger sellout. Stay out L.A. And ur here, GO HOME.

JKP, Stay out of L.A. And if ur here GO HOME……..

        2. Never said Jay was convicted of murder. I guess since he didn’t actually do the the killing, he’s not to blame in the least huh? I guess since the victim was a homosexual, it’s less of a crime right? Who cares about Sheckler anyway. You’re a victim of the cult of personality. If you’re going to accuse people of being ignorant, learn how to read and spell for that matter.

      2. JKP. idiot. The first Video Cameras were for sale to the public in the early 1970s!!! I KNOW , because we had one, and it was 1972. You kinda had to be alivethen, to know wtf youre talking about. You are… a total and complete-Moron. Ya Mother type this for ya??

        1. Dear Miss August, I never said video cameras weren’t around in the 70’s, only that “skate videos” weren’t around until the 80’s, which was a direct response to Kevin who said Jay “gave the world his childhood in magazines and videos.” You’d come off as less of an idiot if you actually read the whole conversation instead of reacting something out of context.

You both come off as less idiotic if you stopped posting.

  10. I got nothing against Jay, but there’s nothing wrong with not blindly respecting him. Not his fault if he went the way of an overpublicized child actor; at least he didn’t throw himself into the aggrandizement the way Alva did. But what did Dogtown actually originate? Not the frontside air, even. Just FSA’s in pools (maybe). But definitely not the first to do them (thousands of witnesses saw one done before they even claim to have originated FSA’s). The ollie? The smith? BS? Hell, not even the bert slide. I mean, I respect him more than Dr. Dumbass did Elvis… but not blindly.

    1. Neil F. on May 15, 2011 - Reply

Um ”NWA” , Venice, Santa monica, And the city of Angels were the birthplace of Skateboarding and the Skateboard. “That’s our “claim”. Jay and the boyz were just a chapter in the history. And no one up north or down south were doing fs airs at that point. frontside airs are for fags anyway. just ollie, it looks better and u don’t look gay having to grab. mike smith did the ‘Smith grind” he’s from torrence ca. bert slides also look gay unless ur doing them surfing. Also, Jay does not claim to have done the first fsa. Tony Alva did. So were was the first FSA done? And who and where are these “thousands of witts” that saw “one” fsa done? And where was it done? LATES…….

      1. Gavin on May 17, 2011 - Reply

So in your first rant, youre anti homophobic but in this one fsas are for fags and Bert slides are gay? You poor confused youth. Who are you to judge what looks good or not anyway? It’s skateboarding ffs. Just have a good time.

He brought style into the equation, a unique, loose, charging and ever-copied style. It hardly matters if it was his first, because he put an indelible stamp on it, one that can be seen in every board-riding genre today, not too mention a host of other pursuits. He’s an icon, and will be remembered as an integral part as long as people remember skateboarding.

So he’s battled addiction? Have a heart. It’s not easy. It’s a cunning, baffling, and powerful illness, and it’s as common as dirt. We are everywhere.

who gives a shit, just another skater who blew himself out with copious amounts of drugs, booze and slippery vagina. Its a junkie life, when in doubt, sell meaningful items to support your drug addiction, but then again he is probably “sober”… and supporting his children and not a drug addiction.

It’s not about drugs or every kind of mistakes this Man did in his life….because for that kind of stuff there is law, and I think he paid for what he did….but it’s only about the lesson he taught to every skater of the world, for every generation of skaters…skateboarding is 100% attitude. We have to pay respect for what he did in the late seventies and to shut the fuck up on what doesn’t belong to us.. so I really don’t give a fuck if he did what he did, but I would certainly like to buy a deck signed from one of the most influent man of my own sport…300 bucks are not that much after all, I think…and I know, at least, that I am no one to judge other people!
    NEVER JUDGE…NEVER!

This is brutal, bet they wouldnt say it to your face! Jay, “we” know “we” you, me, Alva, Stacy, our Dog Town erra paved the way for these (some are snot nosed no graditude punks)guys to make their millions. remember who started this fad! You look great for the hand you were delt. And Great to me anyway…used to love that toe head blonde you were! I’d LOVE to get my hands on that board! No one who wasn’t in California, let alone L.A. the center of the doodiverse, is even qualified to sarcastically take the Dogtowners’ word that they originated the frontside air after one had already been done in front of thousands of people elsewhere… and instead should just obediently assume that the Dogtowners remembered their dates, but NOT their claims, wrong. I mean c’mon, everybody knows that’s what makes California’s – and particularly Santa Monica’s – climate better than Florida’s: The omniscience.

  18. And now he is dead.
