Skateboard Park Tycoon

Skateboard Park Tycoon

There are two things wrong with the Skateboard Park Tycoon game title. First, it should be “Skatepark Tycoon” or “Skate Park Tycoon.” Second, nobody really makes money running a skateboard park. Skateboard Park Tycoon combines a sims type atmosphere with all the fun of building your own pretend skatepark and and sitting there watching pretend people skate it. It was so good, they made three of them.

The original, for Windows 95/98 ME, etc… Probably came out around 2000. Is that a butchered photo of Cab on that box?

Skateboard Park Tycoon 2003 World Tour

Now I’m in… Oh wait, France again. Or maybe this is Epcot center in Disneyland? It looks like they let you actually (pretend) to skate this time around in stead of just having to watch other pretend skaters.

  1. That is some of the dumbest shit I’ve ever seen.

  2. You left out at least one other mistake on the cover: the ho-ho layback air. Nice move if you can figure it. Maybe sticky tape.

They should first make you collect petitions, try to get face time with a parks and recs. department, moderate street vs. transition debates, go to endless city council meetings over picking a site, raise all of the money, put up with inflammatory bulletin board posts by local skateboarding antagonists, and fight off prefab. vendors, landscape architects, and unqualified general contractors.

i bought the first one for $.99 in a clearance bin a while back. building the parks was fun for a little while but skating the parks you made was pretty lame.

  5. Ho ho Layback… I can’t believe I missed that! I was in a hurry to get the post up and get out the door. Good catch

Quinn has the 2003 version and its super hokey but he loves it! If you’re any older than 4 I wouldn’t recommend it. My mom sent it to him who got it off ebay.

the guy doing the hoho layback must have that magnet board that was on here last week.

  8. I played it when it came out. Think it lasted 5 minutes on my Hard Drive before I deleted it.

    10 points on the wack-O-meter…!

  10. And is that Hughes pulling the one-footed 5-O? Or is that T-Roy doing a freestyle inspired one-footed acid drop? Gnarly either way.
