eBay Watch: April 2008

eBay Watch: April 2008

Well, March was good, but April was even better! I feature 49 items, of which 14 went for over $1,000. There were no $3000+ decks this month, but still, lots of good stuff changing hands. There was a lot of cash being thrown around. Maybe tax refunds being spent? And just wait until the stimulus checks hit!

  1. Awesome- my BOTM would be that ’90’s Hosoi stick.

  2. Agreed, that Hosoi model looks striking even though it ‘s very simple.

I have to disagree on the McGill’s though. I think the white pig is much nicer than the one with the background print. That series looked half-baked to me.

  3. Of course that Krypstick is truly radical!. I would never have remembered that Denny Riordan existed if his deck hadn’t been on eBay watch. Also, didn’t realize that Krypitonics became Toxic. Are you sure?

yes sir. Or Toxic became a brand under the Kryptonics name. Maybe that’s more accurate.

  5. Toxic were horrible wheels whoever made ’em.

Atlantic skates in Maryland was doing Kryptonics and then stopped doin’ it. They replaced it with the cheesy Toxic brand and paid me anywhere from $200 to $500 dollars a month to ride my skateboard. And of course all of the Denny Riordan decks and Toxic secret wheels i could ride!

  9. I’ve got a flyaway just like the one that sold on Ebay, except the inside padding is in pretty bad shape from wearing the crap out of it. Great old helmets.

hey, thanks for giving me credit on that Natas deck. I have since been pursuing oil paintings since leaving Phillips’ studios in the late 80’s for New York. I have a pile of decks I had a hand in designing in my parents house somewheres…this whole ebay thing is amazing! I shudder to think what some of the original artwork could fetch! I have the best memories of that job, and that time in my life…still keep in touch w/ most of the crew. (just did a large painting of Meekster ripping an Aptos pool.) I am also due to do a few graphics for an old friend running Consolidated this year. Thanks for the blast. Take care, Justin Forbes
