Cool Solar Panel Skateboard

This probably fake eBay auction has got to be a misguided attempt to encourage solar energy awareness. The perpetrator needs to dig deeper into the demographics of who is going to be most likely to search for “cool and stylish skateboards” on eBay. And because these things disappear after time, the text is preserved after the jump. What kind of trucks are those, Indy 415’s?

Cool Solar Panel Skateboard

Get ready to roll with these cool and stylish skateboards.
These skateboards feature a high-tech solar panel for a smooth ride.
This is a recycled product of solar panels.

Do you know what happened to the solar panels?
Solar power has been highly considered as an alternative energy for its sleek, quiet, and low-maintenance qualities.
There is 87,100 TW energy of sunlight that falls on the Earth’s surface each year (15 TW was the global rate of energy consumption in 2004.)
Solar energy is universally adored but prohibitively expensive for most people.
A 4-kilowatt solar photovoltaic system costs about $34,000 without government rebates or tax breaks.
As a result, solar power accounts for well under 1% of U.S. electricity generation.

If the government could support the setup and come up with appropriate policies, solar panels would be one of the great solutions for our environmental issues.

Each skateboard has an extra cost of production.

Solar panels are for sure expensive. I worked for a company that sold them… a 36″ x 12″ panel went for 90 bucks, and that’s not bad for a 20Watt panel.

Nice try with the auction. Good message, but I’d give him a C- on the photoshop skills. And 1994 wants their wheels back.
