Battle Ground session

Battle Ground’s alright, if you like saxophones

Battle Ground Washington. Man that place is like a pinball table. There must not be anything else for kids to do in a 20 mile radius. We went there for a short session on Sunday and the place was packed. We drove by a GSD protege on the sidewalk on the way there and he ended up showing up at the skatepark. Filthy. The park has a solid coating of dried dust and mud from the landscaping and new walkways surrounding the park. The walkways are adjacent to the skatepark concrete and have joints formed in them to discourage skating, but they aren’t big enough to slow you down much. The bike guys at the shallow end of the bowl were getting very sour about multiple skaters being in the bowl at a time. They couldn’t get a run in. I tried to explain that saying the word “Bowl” in a low voice wasn’t going to make people wait for you to drop in. Later, some kid on a bike tried and eventually landed a backflip flyout of the shallow end. He was pleased with himself. Hey, I’ve got pics of the same three guys I always shoot! Check ’em out.

This kid Marek Litinsky said it would help him out a lot with his sponsor if he got some coverage on Skate and Annoy. I’m not so sure about that….

Mark Conahan, shortly after liftoff. His left hand was quoted as saying “I raised myself up from there and never looked back.”

Ironically, with his feet on the board, all you can read is “OLD” – just like his sponsors.

Marek wanted a backside D shot. Lot’s of people do them, this one is in a 12 foot deep section. Or is it 11ft? Grover doesn’t appear to care. I ‘m beginning to think he’s making that face in the back of my shots on purpose.

Hey Conahan, is this level enough for ya?

This isn’t just a backside air, it’s a trailing foot flap-a-roonie. Make sure you hit the enlargement to check out the daylight between his foot and the board. I’ve got about four almost identical shots like this, and he landed them all.

From this angle you can’t see the flap!

battle ground was fun today for a full 4 four session

  6. The dirt and dust is nothing. You guys should have been then during construction. The gravel was unstopable. We’d sweep it out and there would only be more the next day. I ended up with atleast four or five flat spots.

  7. Flap a roonie or not, I’d like to get them backside airs!!!

  8. I don’t get the saxophone reference. Is that part of your gay subculture?

  9. New York’s alright… If you like saxaphones! – FEAR

    It’s a song reference.

  10. Mark was just mugged in front of the subway. He likes art and jazz.

I think he was referencing the song actually.

We have just sucked the cleverness out of the post.

  11. If Mark keeps fearing the references, i am lee ving.
