  1. Hope you’re ok. Please tell me the scooter was destroyed, particularly if it says “no scooters” on the sign out front.

  2. I recount a story I was told recently, nothing to do with me.

I have a bit of footage that is so appropriate to this.
Its on VHS tape and I dont have the digital copy unfortunately, any suggestions on how to get it to disc? It’s “youtube” gold, Im tellin’ you…

  4. There are cards, interfaces that will allow you to plug your vhs deck into your computer, short of that does anybody have an easy way to convert VHS to digital? That would be a really good tutorial.

Any idea how much $$, Mark? Btw, sick photo’s at Pier man. But um, yeah its totally worth it I dont want to give away the spoiler but it was shot at Santa Barbara skate park and its really, really worth putting up. Even the audio/dialouge is perfect. If I cant do anything with it maybe I can pass the copy along to you, God, you gotta see it.

  6. You can get a DVD-recorder/VHS unit to transfer the vhs video to disc. They’re about $200

I so I might just do it at lunch today.

  8. it probably depends on the model whether or not it will burn video to a cd or dvd, i dunno

Ok thanks, I assume that its pretty self explanitory and that worst case, I need to purchase a blank dvd disc. I’ll have it up soon…..

  10. I’ve recently figured out how to transfer some of my old VHS gems. My little Sony DCR-TRV22 camcorder (5 yrs old) has a feature called analog/digital pass-through. I used the reg analog VHS player with RCA (red/wht/yel) output to the camcorder input. From there it’s either USB to Windows MovieMaker or FireWire to Mac iMovie.
If you’ve got a newer digi camcorder, check it out.

  11. I have a new camcorder (Sony) but it was the cheap one ($300) that doesn’t have that capability. I have a self contained box that I bought from Sony about 5 years ago that converts analog signals to digital and vice versa. Those DVD recorders record to MPEG 2 I think, compression heavy and not a lot better than VHS quality I’ve heard, but never seen.

Aw shit, there is snag..My Homie Russ from OMA is the “protagonist” of the video. In fact it was an old sponsor me video he made, back when trying to get on Indy trucks. I forgot I gave the tape back to him when he was up here recently for my wedding. Now the tape is w/him back in AZ. I emailed him and trying to reach him so he can share it here, I know he’s got the abilty, and firewire.
The jist is it opens quickly w/him flying up over an island/hip w/a huge indy grab. And of course on the other side of the tranny you see an oblivous kid, putzing right below him. About 4 ft above the tranny Russ abondons, flailing mid-air w/an audible “oh shit!” Then crashes down, missing the kid a couple ft. The kid just froze and flinched.
He then gets up and explains to the kid in so many words that there is park ediquete for a reason, namely saftey. But I cant even capture how hilarious it all is in my shitty synopsis, so hopefully Russ will reach me soon. Really good skating and rare pool footage from SB too so its a shame I cant give it up immeadiately. Thx guys fo rbeing, helpful, patient.
    Sorry, folks, spoke too soon.

Ok, I talked to Russ and he is getting it put on disc I will post it as soon as it gets here by snailmail.

    Craptastic.

BTW, you should check out OMA’s new site and the forums are sick. Especially if you go under “parks & misc” and check out the “sticky” from “old man Brian”.

Great quality photos of their cannonball run that werent posted here, especially that shot of Jean in the deep end of the Goodyear pool, but with the whole park literally standing around the pool lurking her run, its epic!
