Stirling Skatepark

Something stirring at Stirling

To placate our massive Dunedin Florida reader base, here’s a link to an amusing video of Tampa Bay’s 10 News coverage of the Stirling skatepark. It’s the complete package. There’s a before and after advertising spot for senior citizens choosing medicare coverage (It is Florida), and an over earnest reporter who makes Bob Burbank sound understated. He also gets on the old stunt wood for the first time (Liar!) since 1989. My personal favorite, when they quote the town council as saying the half a million dollars was money well spent as the camera pans to reveals a skatepark devoid of life except for the reporter and one skater. Good stuff.

fuck, at least he can turn frontside at all. i was expecting B/S scumcarves at best. reporter man almost had some slash going. that was pretty funny.

  7. I skated this park last night for the first time. I have to say it is nice, but I think it favors the goofy stance a bit for various reasons; which might only apply to the way I think. Regardless, the place is smooth, but a little cramped. I would hate to see it with more than 20 people. Luckily I went there on “old school” night. So there were only about 10 or so of us 18 and older folks there mixed with a handful of smaller kids which I am assuming were the offspring of some of the older folks present.

There were a couple issues with transition design but that to me was a minimal issue and very subject to personal taste. The main bowl seems well designed for high speed carving runs and plenty of vert to appease the heavy

  8. Bummer. “Memberships” and pay to play.

Do you guys have to pay to use basketball courts?
