full pipe disaster

While you were out

So this little video is making the rounds pretty quickly. MC said he saw it on Skate Daily but I can’t find the link. (Yes I can.) I don’t know if it’s real or not, there are a couple spots where it looks fishy and at least one frame grab I made appeared to be missing the skater when he should have been visible. It’s hard to tell because you can do some damn good fakes nowadays with a cheap computer. If it isn’t fake then someone managed to capture good goof and one great one in a short time span. Update: Most likely fake as it was used in a Sprite advertisement. Unfortunately I only saw edited versions before making the post. Thanks JB.

  1. i think it’s fake

  2. i hope its not fake.
    thats fucking epic.

  3. its fake its like those toyota tacoma comercials where truckzilla tries to eat the truck and drops it.

  4. Why would someone fake that? What would their motivation be? Seems real to me…

  5. Look at the elegantly-dressed guy between the pipe and the cameraman that seems more interested in showing his reaction to someone skating a full pipe than actually getting in on the session. It’s the classic zoom-in-too-much-and-get-blurry-on-cue to OH NO! that really gives it away. Looks like it should be a commercial though, if it’s not advertising then I don’t know why anyone would do such a good job making it look not good.

I’m putting my money on fake. 90% sure.

yeah so do i, but hope in one hand, shit in the other….

  7. I think it may be real. woulda been tough to get a clean plate to composite with. plus there woulda been a lot of roto work involved which would make you pull your face off.

  8. fake. it was staged for a sprite commercial

  9. Aha. I saw the other versions first and didn’t even watch the full YouTube post. Thanks for the heads up. Is this airing or is it internet only?

  10. Cool, we can still use the idea for Grover’s Video Corner.
