   MC, it seems that you have some familiarity with the Japanese language. And I always wondered about your ethnic background. Is there any relation?

   Japanese-Irish/German. My maternal grandparents were from Japan. My mom was born in the states and didn’t really speak japanese while I was growing up. She was in the internment camps but she was very young at the time. I took judo lessons and my grandmother made sushi every Saturday. My dad took us to martial arts movies. I took some japanese lessons when I was a kid, I visited Japan with my grandmother for a couple of weeks after college.

   My kids took Japanese in highschool. I had my daughter Kathleen help me with the katakana.

   Your dad took you to martial arts movies? Shouldn’t he have been teaching you to drink Guinness or eat bratwurst?

   Thanks for the background info. I thought you might be half Asian, and you do look sort of Japanese, but your name reveals nothing on that matter. I happen to be of Japanese descent myself, so was curious. Of course, now that I’ve asked, I’m wondering why any of this matters anyways! haha
