Tubbs benefit

Is there anyway you guys could post some info about the Michael Tubb’s benefit being held on Friday Oct. 5 in Portland, OR. Trying to make some money for Tubb’s hospital bills due to head trauma from a skating accident. I’m sure you have heard the news, if not check out his recovery site – mtubbs.com. Tubb’s is from Tempe AZ, but has lived up in Portland for the last 2 summers. I would be really stoked if you guys helped to pass this benefit info along.

But of course!

all of this nonsense could have been easily avoided with a helmet

  3. I agree totally, but it’s too late and a horrible thing to happen to a young kid. I guess being cool is more important.. Hope everything works out for him.

  4. Yeah, Yeah. Tubbs is an amazing skateboarder, who was bombing a parking garage. Not skating the deepend of Haley. He wasn’t wearing a helmet. Sucks, but yeah we all take our own risks in life. He dosn’t blame anyone else. He took his risk, and got broke off, but we can help the guy out. Save the preaching for someone else wise ones. Fuck I wish buzzy never sent this info over to this site.
I personally like this site, but all the old guy gripping about anything that is not the big bowl @ pier park gets old. Bitching about street skating and all that. Fucking be a skateboarder, who skates whatever. Age has nothing to do with it. I doubt too many 40 + dudes are going to be jumping down 12 stairs, but it is all just skateboarding. No difference. Oh yeah I’m 30 and skate vert, street, and to the store sometimes.

  5. You guys read too much in between the lines. There are more people complaining about “old guys gripping about anything that is not the big bowl @ pier park” than there are old guys actually griping. Mark makes it a recurring theme in a lot of his comics but that’s a small part of the overall content. There is no overall editorial anti street bias. I’ve made appeals for more street contributions to no avail. This site is about skateboarding.

It’s unfortunate that people get preachy. Yeah, he could have been wearing a helmet but he wasn’t, and now his friends want to help him. I haven’t made any parking garage runs in a very long time, but when I did, I never wore a helmet. On vert ramps? Yeah, but in parking garages? No. Should I have? Probably, it it’s all about choice. I’m also anti helmet laws for motorcycles. It’s stupid not to wear one but I want to have the choice.

Let’s not turn this into a helmet rant. A guy (with no helmet) died skating in a flat parking lot trying to teach his kid to skate, and yet I don’t see helmet advocates saying you should wear one on your liquor store run.

Any further helmet, anti helmet, old guy, street skaters whatever comments in this post will be deleted.

  6. Big Ups Kilwag!!!
I too am a fan of s&a, but shouldas, couldas, wouldas suck. The guy wasn’t wearing a helmet. We all take risks in life; crossing the street, driving in a car, and yes skateboarding. Tubbs is in a rough spot right now, and I just want to help the guy out. Skateboarding appeals to some pretty anti conformist. For better or worse. They tell us we have to do something we don’t.
Come out and support a skateboarder, no matter what the reason you feel he got hurt. SHIT HAPPENS. Be a part of the skate community. Oh yeah we will be premiering the new vox video, and the new transworld video as well.

oh yeah a woman in a water contest even died
    waterdrinkingdeath

the question is “was she wearing a helmet?” just kidding
