Skate and ride Seaside

Alternative to the Trifecta – Seaside Jam

If you want to avoid the crowds at the Trifecta this year, but still want a little bit of commotion during your NW Oregon skatepark experience this weekend, consider heading over to Seaside this Saturday for the 3rd annual Skate ‘n Ride Summer JAM. It’s for a good cause.

At this years Seaside Skate ‘n Ride Summer JAM, we are raising money for a young skater who recently suffered a severe brain injury during a skateboarding accident. Though he is expected to recover, he is only 21 yrs old and has no medical coverage.

We are auctioning off 2 half-pipes and hosting a BBQ Salmon Feed with a suggested donation, for Nick, and raffles will be used to raise money for the Helmet Program as well. All the usual prizes, contests, music, and fun will be available too……Please check out the attached poster if you are interested in helping us with our cause, want a Half-Pipe, or just want a fun summer trip to the BEACH!

2007 Seaside Skate n’ Ride

The half pipe auction. They built a 40ft wide mini ramp in two sections that were 5 and 6 feet tall. The mini ramp was used to build awareness for the skatepark project, help create a buzz, and give kids a place to skate in the meantime. Right now I think it’s kind of sitting in disrepair near the skatepark, but the structural elements are sound and the auction price includes parts and labor for resurfacing as well as transport in Clatsop county. If you need to move it farther they seem ot bee open to reaching an agreement. Labor will be provided by Vox and Finley Construction. The 5 foot and 6 foot sections (20 ft wide each) will be auctioned off separatey. Bidding starts at $1,500.00 per ramp. The auction starts at 2 pm this Saturday. Questions? Call Seaside Surf Shop 503 717-1110 or Angela Fairless at the Sunset Empire Park and Recreation District, or the Community Center at (503) 738-7393. This auction might qualify for a donation/tax deduction, so they will have receipt for the sale.
