Ward Boards

Aside from being a place where you can buy skateboards online, Ward Boards has a couple of nice pages worth of photos that date from the 70’s through present day. The park in the top left (name?) reminds me a little of something else. It looks like it could have been a lot of fun or a complete nightmare. Let’s not forget the barrel jump shot directly underneath. That’s about the only aspect of 70’s skateboarding that hasn’t made a comeback.

  1. Skateandannoy,
Thanks for posting this info on your website. The two top photos in your add are from Winchester Skate Park, just outside of San Jose California (Campbell) back in the mid to late 70’s. That run was called the clover bowl. It was one of the funnest runs at that park until they built the famous Pink Pool that so many big named skaters like Steve Caballero use to rip up. The other photo just below those on the right is one of the first big parks built in Southern California, close to Disneyland. I think it was called Concrete Wave. It had four snake runs and a funny little bowl. It was one of the first parks that I had ever ridden around 1975-76.
Again, thanks for posting the add about my website and I agree, the barrel jumping hasn’t made a comeback just yet. Who knows…
