  1. Good lord, I hope they incorporate the elevation. A mini Wallos style ditch or modern version of Vancouver’s snake run would be excellent. I suppose we’d better brace ourselves for a host of “Just make stairs or flatten it out and make ledges” arguments, but it seems a real chance for diversity will be lost if the elevation potentials are ignored in the design. Geth’s got a good opportunity to make something truly different, it just may be a different type of different than the way Airspeed usually thinks, different.

Come to think of it, I don’t think PDX skaters realize that the next park (after Gabriel) is going to be a designated street plaza.

  2. incorporate it. bank, ditch, wallos, yes!

This is the best comic…….you need to include Inouye into the comics cause this one speaks to him.

Kilwag- Can you prove it with a plan yet? A Skate Plaza will be a tea kettle for skating……HOT!

  4. It’s just what I hear. There’s no plan yet because there’s no proposal-bidding thingy yet. Conahan, help me out here..

  5. I attended a meeting with the parks commissioner and Parks staff. Ed Benedict is slated to be street-plaza like. There is supposed to be 30% transition. People who are working on this would like to see the transition be a street-like situation like the old KGW planter banks.

That would be fine as long as it works for no-pushing skateboarding. Seems like we can accomodate the flavor of the street plaza but still make something worthwhile for a transition skater to visit. Opposing two transitions in a mini-ramp or half-pipe sort of arrangement would work for me. Although I would prefer a bowl.

  6. yeah, snake run at Gabriel, that’s what I wanna see. I’m fine with the street plaza, it will keep the kids away from the other parks.

Push, trick, stop-repeat is the formula for street skating. A snake run-street plaza is cutting edge.
