Tommy Guerrero on NPR

Tommy Guerrero on NPR.

Check out this 10 minute Tommy Guerrero interview on NPR. It’s pretty good and only has a minimal amount straight media kooking on skateboarding.

I had 412 spam mails waiting for me in my junk mailbox this morning. Somehow, when sifting through them I managed to pick out one email as being potentially mislabeled. The red flag was a subject line reading Guerrero on NPR. So thanks for the tip Day Reah. This is a good place to mention that if you are contacting SnA try and stick something in the subject line that will help me fish it out of the junk mail if the spam filter catches it.

What’s the occasion? Tommy must be promoting his new record From the Soil to the Soul. The NPR appearance is from Weekend Edition Sunday, December 17, 2006.

Weekend Edition Sunday, December 17, 2006 · Born in San Francisco, a mecca for street skaters, Tommy Guerrero was beating pros in skateboard competitions as a young teenager.

A member of the legendary Bones Brigade, he co-founded Real Skateboards in 1990. He still works with the company, and also does graphic design for Krooked Skateboards.

And he’s a musician — a one-man groove factory with beats and bass lines ready-made for the streetscapes of skate culture.

The multi-talented Guerrero clearly doesn’t like to be put in a pigeon hole. And he tells Andrea Seabrook his music — including his new CD, From the Soil to the Soul — won’t fit neatly into any one category, either.

The interview is a good listen, especially when tommy talks about making time to skate, not wanting to hop fences anymore, and chuckling about the interviewer stopping by the local skate shop to get into the right mood to meet Tommy. If you like what you hear, you might as well stop by TommyGuerrero.com. Ripping style holmes! Oops sorry. I couldn’t resist.
