Solid Surf Skateball

Solid Surf USA

Making the Solid Surf UK post reminded me that I was sitting on some shots of a skateball installation at Solid Surf in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Tim Ebaugh sent me the scans from his friend, photographer AL Porterfield. Check ’em out after the jump. Tim has a site called Vintage Florida Skateboard as well as helping out with Grind For Life and Florida Skater. We also linked to his Bowl Rider’s Cup coverage.

It’s odd but there doesn’t really seem to be any images of the old Fort Lauderdale Solid Surf skatepark out there on the web.

Skater – Dan Murray.

I had a great time skating back in the day. Including the commercial with Dan and Robbie which we should sometime around 1981 I believe

  9. I actually own two of the blue fiberglass half pipes and the full blue pipe. I got them from a guy in town (Missouri) who was injured in a car accident for free, he was excited to see someone get use out of them. As kids we rode these things all day and night. Our house was the hot spot being we lived so far out in the country. That was twenty five years ago now. I passed the half pipes on to the next generation but kept the full pipe as the Missouri weather damaged the wood skeleton inside the fiberglass. Instead of throwing it out and just letting it become land fill my wife and I turned it on its side put a roof on it and stuck it down in the woods where it

Do you still have those panels? I’m actually looking for some replacement panels for the Clown Ramp/Blue Ramp that was in Dallas in the 80’s. I have 21 sections but the lower blue sections are in really bad shape. email me
