Who saw it coming?

Remember internet skate sensations the Puehse Twins Apparently they are over skateboarding for time being, preferring to pursue tennis instead. Grover has an awesome story about doing the robot during high school doubles tournaments, and that’s as a competitor, not someone in the stands. Oooh, it’s painful to watch these kids wooden delivery. It’s hard to reconcile them with the kids in the movie trailer. UPDATE: I was about tho schedule this post but on previewing it I discovered both the videos had been removed. Here’s the gist. In video one the twins explain how they are leaving skateboarding to focus on tennis because they’ve been skating forever and it just isn’t as fun to them anymore. They go on to thank all of their big name sponsors and then crack some jokes. I guess they caught a lot of flack in their Youtube comments, scrolling through them the removed comments seemed to outnumber the ones still left by four to one. To combat that they released a second video acknowledging the haters and backtracked a little. The main points being that they never said they were quitting skateboarding forever, and reminded people that they said they might be back and they might not, which was true. I guess their management decided to pull the videos completely instead of just, you know, disabling comments. Ah.. the interwebs and skateboarding are so beautiful together. Extreme!&trade I’m sure there are more interesting or noteworthy things happening in the skateboarding world right now, but you’re at Skate and Annoy, so you knew what you were getting into.

  1. Wow, they removed that? I watched both over the weekend. They essentially gave an award speech for leaving skating. Thanking videographers, sponsors, parents, etc… Pukefest.

  2. Saw it to. All I can say is, thanks for exiting.

  3. What a couple of Puehse’s

  4. Ah yes. People quitting skating because “it’s not fun anymore.” Good riddence. You were never a true skateboarder to begin with in that case.

  5. I was contemplating quitting skateboarding to jump start my rap career. I had it all planned out to. I would get a dope ass treble clef tattoo on my face. Shit was going to be tight! Then I realized something…

wow, Such anger directed at a couple of children. That’s kind of odd.

    You must not have children….

Can’t really blame the kids. It’s the parents. The same type of parent that recognizes their child’s talent and then works to exploit that talent for fame and fortune. Those parents aren’t any better than pimps…and probably don’t dress as well, or know how to “slap a bitch”. Just saying.

i was going to say the same thing. probably 5 years ago when we were still doing concussion i got an email from their dad trying to push us into printing photos of his kids or doing an interview or something. it was lame back then and this confirms it. but like you said, you cant blame them for quitting if they didnt really want to do it in the first place. whatever, have fun at tennis camp. at least the girls wear those cute tennis skirts.

      1. Wow, talk about asking for it… you weren’t even TEMPTED to present them concussion style?

They never even had a chance…
To blow all of their fortunes on hookers and blow.

    So sad. So very sad.

  14. “now a skateboard is kind of like a tennis racket. You just go to the store and buy it. Now, it’s just a sport item.” -lance mountain

there’s another quote by lance i was looking for, paraphrased: “if i was growing up now, i’d see skating like tennis.”

on a related parent/skate theme: “My mom got me on Powell. My mom asked Stacy.” -lance again.

(direct quotes from steve olsen’s interview with lance mountain in juice mag.)

  15. …there were skaters back in the day that were great tennis players, had national junior rankings, etc…who cares? probably nobody…

I love how they be skating “forever”. It’s taken longer for me to recover from injuries than they’ve been alive.

  17. Good. Bye.

  18. Thats two more tools that I’ve outlasted in my life of skateboarding. Skated before they start, skated after they quit. Skateboarders win.

Plus its a good thing they quit skateboarding. We have enough young prodigies and the twins are kind of excessive.
