What the Fofao?
Ten bucks delivered. Bizarro skateboard album covers are the new vintage skateboard collectable… because I say so. This thing is disturbing. Fofao is a popular (?) children’s television character, or not, I’m not sure. He’s freakish though. Large jowled pig face boy anyone? I keep staring at the cover of this thing, trying to figure out if it’s a child in the suit or a man with an oversized skateboard. Seriously, check it out.

“Fofão” loosly translates to “Big fluffy” or “big cuddly”. Wow, Brazilian children’s TV has a long tradition of weirdness. I’m sure you can find something with Xuxa and skateboarding if you look hard enough (she is much easier on the eyes than Fofão?.
Fofão is a fictional character in the defunct television’s brazilian Balloon Magic. Portrayed by Orival Pessini, became very popular among Brazilian children in the ’80s, he even had his own program, plus albums, dolls and various licensed products.

Fofão is an alien coming from a planet called “Fofolândia. The program magic bullet, Globo, Fofão made their first appearance in 1983. Initially, did not speak, only made sounds that were interpreted by Simony [1]. With the success of the character, which earned more space in the program, Orival Pessini created the doll Fluffy.
Fofão was so successful that, with the end of the program overall, won his daily TV Fofão, TV Bandeirantes, which featured skits and cartoons. His program in Bandeirantes ran for three years, from 1987 to 1989. In its programming was animated cartoons, music and comic pictures. The character was also the protagonist of a feature film called Fofão and Nave Sem Rumo, 1989.
The TV Fofão also aired on Rede Bandeirantes between 1994 and 1995. In 1996, the program had a quick passage through the TV Gazeta, when it still maintained a partnership with CNT. Orival Pessini manages the company Fofão Products and Merchandising, Ltda.
