Remembering Jake Brown (He’s not dead)

Jake Brown eats it

Just about this time last year everyone was freaking out over Jake Brown’s amazing escape from a potentially life ending or at the very least, life changing bail on the mega ramp at the X Games. Hard to believe he walked away from the slam heard round the world. Thankfully I’m not posting about the first annual memorial Jake Brown contest. I’m sure he’d be pissed that we’re bringing it up again, but after the jump there’s a handful of links that date back to the hysteria, and of course, you can watch the video again if you are feeling robust.

I can’t believe he’s dead! What happened? There was so much coverage of the fall but none on the actual death? What kind of culture have we become. Has a memorial fund been set up?

I was there at LA’s Staples Center that night and honestly, it was completely surreal. The arena shook with a deafening roar upon Jake’s landing of the 720. Five seconds later…complete silence, everyone thought they’d witnessed skateboarding’s first “death by competition.” But no, the tough little fucker from OZ came through to live another day. Yeah Jake!

You can expect ESPN to highlight this world famous slam beginning next week.

I just wanted everyone to know what a wonderful guy Jake is. After reading my story about my multiole chronic illnesses, he and DD came to my rescue. They contacted some friends and I am on a more holistic approach that started with Sierrasil, thenks to JB and DD. So now after 3 years, I am in remission and trying to ween off of all traditional medicines possible. I am a long time snowboarder and skateboarder that was stopped dead in her tracks. LIterallY! Thanks for your help and compassion Jake. You are the best! I have been on a skate 4 x lately and plan to ride snow this year, fingers crossed! Peace
