Eyes wide shut at Pistols
I tagged along on a trip to Pistols Skate Shop in Vancouver, Washington last week. I shot a few snaps while managing my kid, and managing to catch Cody Weaver four times in a row with his eyes closed. Of course, that could have had something to do with the flash, except nobody else had closed eyes in the photos. Makes sense though, cause Cody makes it look as easy as if he was asleep.
Pistols has a mini ramp sunk into the floor. You can skate it for free. On one side is a stage where they have bands play. On the other side is the skate shop. The place looks like a sketchy crack den from the outside, but everyone is friendly on the inside. Right now they are working on acquiring a much larger space to build a proper indoor skatepark (possibly concrete!) as well as music venue and restaurant, etc…
The horizontal pictures can be enlarged.
Does your skateboard company owner actually skate? This one does. Colin.

WTF is it? I live in the ‘couve..news to me.
I can’t find a listing for it either.
And the myspace offers no info useful.
2305 E 5th Street, Vancouver, WA 98686. I searched for Pistols Skate Shop Vancouver and came up with a mention of one of their shows. Pistols Skate Shop MySpace page.
What the fuck?! I thought Gar moved to Cali or something a few years back. He’s my old neighbor from the Couvs west side. I met him and Max long enough to hit some killer sessions and enjoy pie. GAR let me know your alive and in the couve!
Did Gar finally get his knee fixed?
Which one?, and Which time?!
Summer 2006, the time he fell jumping over a fire pit at troy’s.
Damn, thats even after the last time I saw him. I guess I need to get out more.
hey stan! whats the word? im good. i folded my leg and it put me out completely for almost 16 months. i didnt fall so much as bail out and have my knee go a different direction than the rest of my body when i jumped down on it. regardless it was fucked. had surgery. mostly better but still weak, and i cant charge full on yet. im in portland near burnside. how you been?
Speaking of Vancouver, read this and hear the sound of $216 of our tax dollars being pissed away in the time it took to conduct a meeting:
County sharpens words to skaters
Tuesday, April 29, 2008
By MICHAEL ANDERSEN, Columbian staff writer
Here’s what the eight signs posted around Clark County’s parking garage said last fall: “NO SKATEBOARDING NO LOITERING.”
This spring, a set of new, identically sized signs took their place: “NO SKATEBOARDING NO LOITERING BY THE ORDER OF THE GENERAL SERVICE DIRECTOR.”
Cost to taxpayers: $216, plus labor.
Why the change? It all started at a county meeting in November, when Commissioner Betty Sue Morris declared that skateboarders in the parking area were “going to crack their heads open.”
Morris, 66, was coming off a near collision with youngsters who had seemed to shoot from behind a wall, right in front of her car.
There should be some signs, she said.
County Administrator Bill Barron replied that there already were — eight of them.
Moment of silence.
Then Barron told her what the signs said.
“Oh, that’s not enough,” Morris broke in.
A little more force, she said.
Barron, 63, is the county’s top unelected official, and scrupulously respectful to his three bosses.
“Whatever you say, Madam Commissioner,” he said.
And so new signs were ordered.
The county’s general services director, Mark McCauley, reports to Barron. A lanky certified public accountant with a graying goatee, glasses and a lopsided grin, he retired as a lieutenant colonel after 20 years in the U.S. Army and now oversees county property and various internal operations.
Among his duties: taking phone calls from employees who see skaters messing around in the parking garage.
Every few months, he says, he’ll hurry down from his sixth-floor office to shoo someone away from the structure.
McCauley said last week the county doesn’t really enforce the no-skating rule at night, once all employees and their cars have left the garage. No one has been seriously hurt in the structure yet, he said.
He thinks the new language on the signs is intended to be intimidating.
“If you ever meet up with the big, bad director of general services, it’s something that you’ll remember for the rest of your life,” said McCauley, 51.

Where is this located (the article)?
The Columbian(on-line, home page)today.
I was checking out some news cause some fool robbed a credit union like 60 ft from my house and my daughters school was on lockdown.
I find it amusing that even the writer makes that commissioner sound like an old bitch, even though we all assumed it.
