Brookings Weekend

Brookings Weekend

So a couple of weekends ago Dave Vieira, Pete Panagakos, Jeff Fryer, and myself set out for a little 3 day weekend trip to beautiful Brookings, Oregon. Our plan was to skate, drink some beer, and for me to shoot a machine gun in Eugene.

Where is the park in the first shots at? Looks crappy but fun.

  2. Danimal says:

    thats the Amazon

  3. Kilwag says:

WTF is the Amazon? In the article I thought it was some speed metal band (that I wouldn’t know anything about). – you know, with the kids and their rock and/or Roll.

  4. Danimal says:

it’s one of eugene’s parks, rough, small, fun

  5. heywood says:

See…”Kilwag” is not an O.G. Oregon local…Didnt know about amazon?!?!? WTF…At your age your should have built it…Damn..

  6. Kilwag says:

Yeah, transplant from Illinois in 1999. Ask me about street spots in Champaign Urbana, circa 1987 and I’ve got you covered.

  7. egbert says:

Or you could have written: “I’m old and from Illinois, but what do I know.”

  8. bobcat says:

    Sleestak forum link

Eugenes’ Amazon piss dish info yo. Feel free to add your snide bits to that park or any others – i don’t give a rats derriere

  9. bobcat says:

oh yeah – heywood – who really is FROM portland anyways? Emanual hospital 1972 represent! Grew up in Seattle shit we used to drive the 5 hours to skate that turd in Salem and then 2 hours more just to skate Amazon. Kids these days.. now get off my lawn.

  10. Danimal says:

damn illinois transplants, they took r jobs!

  11. Estes says:

Wow, I’m just shocked to see a story done and posted by the Eggman. Wow.

  12. drotownlocal says:

  14. colin says:

i lived in eugene for a stint.. very close to Amazon… trust me.. you don’t “need” to have heard of Amazon skate park

  15. XFRYARX says:

maybe you “need” to learn to ollie? hmmm?

  16. DaveV says:

    zing!
It’s pretty cool for nostalgia sake…Im just glad parks like Amazon and Derby are still around. They are still a part of skate history and really show how far park design has come since then. Amazon is fun!

  17. b says:

i lived in eugene for 4-5 years. before churchill or any other eugene parks, the only free concrete park we had was amazon. there was always a good session going on back then. fun times. really.

  18. Karen says:

We were there that day. Chris, owner of Coos Bay’s Concrete Pirate Skate Shop, and myself took a group of kids from Coos Bay to Brookings for a day at the park. Skippy was part of our group. You took some good pictures of him. We had a blast skating with everyone that was there.

  19. chris-owner from concrete pirate sk8 shop says:

karen and i took a small group of kids to brookings, it was by far the funniest skate trip ever.

  20. chris-owner from concrete pirate sk8 shop says:

brookings and port orford skate parks– we visited them both that day.
