A Commercial a Day - Day 4: LA Weekly Pool Skating

LA WEEKLY SKATEBOARD COMMERCIAL

Here’s a short commercial for the free paper LA Weekly. LA Weekly is giving a nod to skateboarding culture without resorting to the easy way out with Extremeâ„¢ stereotypes. That’s what you’d expect with a “hip” paper. Appears to be shot on super 8 and looks authentic. Hmm… I wonder who made this. Sound familiar? Watch the video after the jump.

LA Weekly Pool Skating Commercial

This commercial was shot by Nichols/Charnoski Films. It’s nice that they went with someone who had skateboarding roots to get this done. I don’t know anything about the series and there is no information available on the NCP site. Perhaps they were each shot by different artists, or not. Actually, I don’t even know if it is part of a larger campaign or just one ad, but it has the feel of a series. It’s got a rockin’ soundtrack. The skate footage shown is dwarfed by the amount of pool preparation time. Watch the commercial and let us know if you know who the pool service crew is.

Nice job Buddy and Rick. Did you get to skate with anyone from the LA Weekly?
